Costs can vary massively depending on a huge number of factors. Here are a few tips on how you can save money in your flight training.

The average person will get their private pilot certificate after ~60-80 hours but by following these tips you could bring the number closer to ~40-60 potentially saving you thousands of dollars.
Studying the content of a lesson before a given lesson will significantly decrease the amount of time you spend with your instructor. Always be sure to do any recommended reading and watch any recommended videos.
Flying is a skill that is easily lost without practice. The longer you go without practicing something, the more likely you are to forget it. In your flight training, it is recommended to fly as much as you can while still having time to study at home. Typically you do not want to fly less than 2 times per week but depending on your work or school schedule this may not be possible.
Most people do best with a 2-hour flight block, typically any more than this will lead to fatigue. The best schedule for minimizing costs is a 1 hour ground block, followed by a 2 hour flight block 3 times a week.
Friends are good to have on any occasion, but especially in aviation. One of the great things about the aviation community is everyone wants you to succeed. Finding a good mentor who has already done the training you are currently going through can be a great and affordable way to learn tips and techniques from experienced pilots. It is also a great way to get more comfortable within the aviation community.
Easier said than done, but finding a job at an airport is a great way to meet people and finance your flight training. Often times flight schools give their employees discounts on flight training so this can be a great way to save some money. There are often opportunities washing airplanes, working the front desk, or if you are mechanically inclined, working as an assistant in their maintenance shop.
